About

My name is Patrick and I go by Mwesh. I was born in the Kibera slums in 1985. My family was very poor. I had just one parent because my dad died when I was two years old.

By that time my mum had no money to educate me. Even there was no food to eat. My mother was just borrowing food for our family. It was a hard time for me to live at home so I started to join street life when I was 10 yeas old. I had no other place to live than at home.

When I joined street life, I started to take drugs and sniff glue. By that time I was eating the remaining food in the dustbin. I was living just like an orphan. I was sleeping in verdanas and walking barefoot. By that time I had many dents in my body, especially my legs.

I think my God doesn’t sleep because when I was 10 years old in the street I met a woman who was saved and she preached to me. By that time I was totally into drugs, even I did not know myself. After she preached to me, I decided to go with her to stay with her. She treated me like her child. She took me to school and I stopped taking drugs.

When I finished my primary education, she then took me to secondary school where I managed to get a C+. After secondary school, she took me to college to study photography for a few weeks. I thank God because I managed to finish my schooling and college, stop taking drugs and now I am employed. I can’t forget that woman and now I am saved.
